Professor of Law & Consulting Partner – Power, Energy & Dispute Resolution

Prof. Yemi Oke is a Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), a Professor of Law, and one of Africa’s foremost authorities in Electricity Law and Regulation, Energy Resources Law, Oil & Gas, Minerals and Mining Law, and International Environmental Law. He currently serves as a Consulting Partner in Power, Energy, and Dispute Resolution.

He obtained his LL.M and Ph.D. degrees from Osgoode Hall Law School, York University, Canada; an LL.B from the University of Ilorin, Nigeria; and his B.L. from the Nigerian Law School, Abuja.

A pioneering expert in his field, Prof. Oke has earned a strong institutional reputation across multiple jurisdictions, particularly in Nigeria, Canada, the United States, and other countries. He has led and advised on a wide range of technical transactions, litigation, arbitration, and alternative dispute resolution matters internationally, and has provided strategic legal research and advisory services to numerous clients, institutions, and organizations.

Prof. Oke is the author of 15 law books and 48 local and foreign monographs, with over 110 academic and professional publications in his areas of specialization. He has delivered more than 300 technical papers at national and international seminars, conferences, workshops, symposia, and trainings.

Earlier in his career, he served as counsel at several of Nigeria’s leading law firms, including Chief Rotimi Williams’ Chambers, Babalakin & Co., Olaniwun Ajayi LP, and KPMG Nigeria. During his postgraduate studies in Canada, he taught at both York University and Toronto Metropolitan University (formerly Ryerson University). He later joined the Faculty of Law at the University of Lagos.

Prof. Oke is the Managing Partner and Founding Principal of MJS Partners, a firm of legal practitioners and consultants. He is a Fellow of both the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (FCArb) and the Chartered Institute of Taxation of Nigeria (FCTI).
